About Ryu

I'm Ryan "Ryu" Jackson. I'm a guy who likes gaming, classic rock, photography. I have a background in 'tech support & teaching, I enjoy a good book, and I seemingly never sleep. Also, I suffer from Severe Depression.

This blog, and associated profile, at it's most basic level, has been created so I can share things with you, the reader. I will share things I find inspiring, things I find interesting, and things I find spark a good debate.
Primarily though, I have created my blog to help those who suffer, as I do, with Depression. I intend to share ideas, thoughts, tips & hints that have helped me, and could help you too.

My own experience comes from 4 years studying developmental psychology (part of an overall Education degree, which focussed not on practical teaching, but the Philosophy, Psychology, Sociological & Political paradigms that affect the learning process), my own extensive research into the area; and of course, a lifetime of severe depression. I know how hard the fight can be, and I know how hard it can be to find inspiration. I'm here to help. How that help manifests itself is as much up to you as me; feel free to request videos, songs, pictures, anything you feel that might contribute to this resource.

I'd ideally like this blog to become a site where we can all talk as equals, about the matters that affect us, each other, society as a whole, and our emotional wellbeing as a species. That being said, there are those online who would mar such an opportunity with repugnant comments; so, this has become necessary:
If you post deliberately inflammatory remarks, racist remarks, or unwarranted/unreasonable remarks/insults in the comments, you will be blocked without notice & your comments deleted. Freedom of speech exists in the real world (& it's broken there); on my wall, normal rules do not apply. I make the rules here.

Don't forget that.

But, operate within that simple tenet, and You are free to post as you see fit. I encourage you to post that which could help & inspire others, and which constructively adds to debated topics. It would be fantastic to have a website where the masculine (& of course the feminine, but the male side needs a hand, don't you think?) aspects of Mental Health are represented in an articulate & orderly fashion, without the hordes of trolls baying at the virtual door. I'm here to ensure that happens.

But most of all, I'm here to meet you.

Hello there, I'm Ryan Jackson.
